How to Verify a Real Pickleball Factory in China
A polished website and one perfect sample do not prove that a supplier controls production. Before placing an OEM order, buyers should check what the factory actually makes, how batches are tested and whether communication continues after payment.
Here are five checks we recommend to clubs, distributors and private-label brands.
- ASK FOR A CURRENT WORKSHOP VIEW
Request a recent video call or dated workshop footage. Ask the supplier to show the injection-molding machines, molds, production area and testing equipment in one continuous visit. A real factory should be able to explain what each machine does and which products are running.

- CONFIRM WHAT IS MADE IN-HOUSE
Ask a simple question: “Which items do you manufacture yourself, and which do you source?”
This matters because production control, lead time and quality responsibility are different. An honest answer is more useful than a catalogue that suggests every item is made under one roof.
- TEST MORE THAN ONE SAMPLE
A single “golden sample” tells you very little about batch consistency. Ask for several pieces from the same trial batch. Compare weight, diameter, roundness, bounce and surface finish.
For paddles, compare weight, thickness, edge finish, bonding and handle consistency. Record the result so the approved sample becomes a clear reference for later production.
- ASK HOW FAILURES ARE CHECKED
Good inspection is not only a final visual check. For pickleballs, buyers should ask about bounce, impact, cracking, deformation and hot- or cold-weather behavior. The supplier should be able to explain what happens when a sample fails and how the cause is traced back to material, molding or process control.
- START WITH A SMALL TRIAL ORDER
A small order tests more than the product. It also shows how the supplier handles production updates, packaging, export documents and delivery. Clubs and distributors can then decide whether the factory is ready for a larger program.
